I still have no idea why Blizzard located the garrisons where they did. They should have made them instanced areas off of a city. They also should have done a much better job on the cities in Draenor.

Well, they took out the capitals of Draenor and funneled everybody into Ashran. And Garrisons were originally supposed to be placeable anywhere. Of course, both cities and everything else were cut down fairly quick.

Also, the game isn't necessarily showing how old it is. Let's be real. They managed to lose 44%(?) of their subs in a span of 8 months since the launch of WoD. Eight whole months. Not during the final patch lull a la SoO 5.4 year long patch. Not from one specific reason or another (blaming the "East" yet again? really?). No, 8 months in the first part of their expansion, 44%. These numbers were last seen during the BWL patch in Vanilla....9 years ago. Insane.

What that says is WoD was, without any doubts the absolute worse xpac they created. You're bound to lose subs when you announce the expansion, along with all these actually interesting plans. Then you take away probably 90% of that by the time the game goes Live. Add salt into the wounds and proclaim a twitter integration patch as a major content patch, a patch thought of in a whopping two days as stated by the devs themselves. Still refuse to listen to any player feedback after everything. They had 10mil subs beginning of the xpac. 1 0 million. And 8 months later only half of that? It's hilarious to watch cause they're so extremely out of touch, much like all the presidential hopefuls. =P

I still love this game like nothing else. But all these points, and especially that last bolded part, is what hurts the most. They should never have cut back on content, especially the capitals. And what I fear most most, is that those who have left in this xpac's exodus will never return. I don't see new players replacing those that have now gone.

I'm basically 'married' to the game, so I'll probably stay subbed till the plug is pulled but I fear it's going to be a vastly empty experience. :(

So the stream is happening tonight for those in the UK that's 23:00... Has anyone links for any news/rumors on what could be involved?

Can look on MMO-Champion cause there's only about 100012 rumors going on. Somebody's bound to be the correct one... >.<

I think last expansions have proved than creating new content just for the shake of it doesn't cut it. The last few people I know that are still playing (and that's because they can buy their sub time using gold), are only doing old content (cataclysm and backward) for achievements, transmogrification etc. Even blizzard acknowledged this by modifying some of the old content so it can be soloed (plus the old raid revisits they create).

Decline is obvious, since we see the old content beating the new one regarding players' interest. That alone says a lot.

I think they might have done much better by going back to what it is that people have always enjoyed the most and creating more of that. The basics of the game I think people would have more fun with than piling on more and more "features" like garrisons which did not turn out very well in my opinion for a lot of reasons. A focus on improving the quality of the basic questing, dungeons and raid experiences with an abundance of that content and a planned series of patches moving a story forward would have been a lot better than what we got last time around. I know that could be criticized as just being more of the same but sometimes it is good to not mess with something that isn't broken.

The last expansion I thought was good and really enjoyed playing and it was all casual too was Wrath of the Lich King. I liked the new environments, there was lots to do. I liked the quests. I even liked the dailies for the nice fishing pole and other stuff I'm forgetting now. I just found it fun and I also liked that there was two points of entry I could choose from. I played through both with different characters.

I didn't care much for Cataclysm. It had its moments but it just seemed lacking somehow to me. I cannot even remember the specifics now which says something in and of itself. I mean, I leveled multiple characters up through that questing and I can't remember it mostly?

Panda bears? No, not for me. The whole Asian vibe was too much a departure from Azeroth for me by a lot. It too had its moments but I really just don't like that expansion. It's just something to hurry through on the way to hopefully better things to me.

And then we come to a great opener that then dumps one into the grinder known as garrisons.

Yeah, the decline is strong with this one. I hope they turn it around. Again, it is telling when what I most look forward to the next time I play is leveling low level alts in old world content.

I've not played the latest expansion, but I have to imagine the staple of kill 20 of this, collect 15 of that, escort NPC from point A to B, spending untold hours collecting thousands of crafting items/mats, repeating dungeons multiple times to collect armor sets which mean nothing when the next expansion comes along, plus the end game, working with 19 people to figure out what exact sequence of attacks are needed to defeat a particular boss, has to be wearing thin at this point.

land of confusion
I just wish that Blizzard could come up with some new true mechanics to shake things up. As a healer, just adding more random damage to an encounter just pisses me off.

I have to say. From what they are showing the game looks good.

I have watched the stream. The game looks really good. There is a lot to see in the game, a lot to experience.

I like the idea of artifact system. I am starting to really consider returning for a full expansion to WoW.

Stream show looked good. I'll probably be in for another round. Glad to see garrisons jettisoned. Class halls seems okay so long as there is a convenient port back and forth from Dalaran. Hero class with its own starting area? Oh, yeah. DPS for me. The weapons seem cool but I hope you can attain at least some decent level of improvement to them playing casually. I don't see myself raiding and I may or may not do dungeons. I'd still like to have one and make it look cool though, etc.

They didn't say whether or not they would open up another slot to accommodate the new hero class for people who have filled theirs with one of every class or not. I hope they do but if not, I'll probably ditch the monk. I'll have to think about that then I guess.

I don't know what made me think garrisons would be held over. For some reason I was thinking that which in retrospect there wasn't much reason for really. They made zero mention of crafting and resource gathering, etc. unless I missed it at the very start. I showed up 10 minutes in and missed the better part of the trailer.

Oh, I liked the look of the new zones a lot too. I also like the idea of returning to Dalaran. :D

Oh! Oh! Wait! There's more!!! I LOVE that any characters I level now can just blow off garrisons completely. There is no need to waste time and cash on them at all. Just quest on through. Heck ya!

Oh, and the info on less total followers but still having them and having them do useful things sounds good.

I can't believe they got me excited for this damned game again. lol

One more thing, new honor system seems a good idea but I could not tell if they are doing away with pvp gear altogether or not. I would think not but they didn't say anything about that. Maybe it was just understood by most of course it would still be in or something.

They do it to me every expansion pack :p
Haha, same here :D

Feral Druid, Retribution Paladin, Monk, Demon Hunter. Time will tell.

The biggest problem is this. Work, life, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2.

Where the hell I will get time for all of this :D

Didn't watch the stream just read the updates via their site, and as some comments say above i think ill be going back! Looks really good so far but that could change, I'm loving the PVP change although reminds a bit like COD levelling, but it could be a good change.

Quite exciting either way

And pretty soon, ports to Dalaran are going to be a good money maker :p

Not necessarily. Current portals to Dalaran will probably materialize you in the air over the Crystalsong Forest(?) the same way that ports to pre-Wrath Dalaran will port you to somewhere over the Dalaran crater. :)

That said, I assume that there will be a way to learn ports to the new Dalaran location.

Finally, an excuse to move my hearth away from the Shrine of Two Moons.

What's the deal with the Survival Hunter weapon being a staff? Are we quietly going back to where hunters can wield a melee weapon and a ranged one?
