What a nice thing to wake up to. :)

Hi everone! I just registered as a user here at macrumors, but I've been gong to the site constantly for the past year or so (and even more in the past two months due to the Merom in the Macbook Pro predictions). Thank you to all of you people who put in your two cents every day!

:D
Welcome...and enjoy this wonderful place!

lets hope this is a precursor to a merom update in the macbook pro's later today or tomorrow :)

I half hope the MBP updates won't be this boring; the C2D iMacs don't seem to be improved apart from Merom. If this holds true for MBPs, I might just have to get a Rev A MBP, discounted...

... or maybe even a 24'' iMac...

Very decent price, especially with the 7600GT. Only thing, though - what's up with the only memory config that isn't dual channel being the most expensive?

7600GT or 7300GT?

Come on! I wanna see Aussie Edu Store updates (So I can work out how much poorer I'm going to be...)

I have to say, my timing for needing a new mac is about as perfect as it gets. Not only is it being updated and (according to the US stores) reduced in price, but it's now got an improved Video Card option for the 17' iMac.

The 20" can go up to 3GB as well.... and to 2.33GHz too, at least according to the BTO page.

I hope thats not a glitch, thats the model I plan on buying...

The next question is - who is going to pay the rediculous $250 for the Processor bump? I mean, what is that - a 5% speed bump, and only for those few tasks that only use the processor?

Having said that, it's the 'best' and I'm mighty tempted...

There's something a bit funny about that page - it has grey around the graphics for the different types of mac desktop lines at the top. Or is that just IE rendering it wierdly?

Apple is charging $750 to get 3GB of RAM

BTO page is working if you click on the iMacs down below and not the ad on top.

2.33 GHz processor is $250.

7600 GT is $125.

2GB of RAM is $175.

2-4 day shipping of base 24". 5-7 fully loaded.

1.83 GHz model ships within 24 hours.

17 and 20" ships 1-2.

Whoah, wait a minute. Its not Tuesday. What a way to shock people Apple: wait a day then release.

Looking at the 24" I like how you have the option to upgrade the video card to a 7600GT. While not the best, it does have decent performance. Looks like Apple brought back the education model iMac for consumers. Its running integrated graphics, cd burner, wireless (no bluetooth) and only 2MB cache.

Also, I wonder if going with a 24" panel will mean the Cinema Displays get upgraded to 24". I know Dell uses the 24" panel as well as several other manufactures. I guess this means Apple is moving to more standard hardware (remember the changed to a different size panel for the 15" MacBook Pro).

Cricky batman!!! Now thats a nice revamp!

Dont like the integrated graphics on the low end 17inch model, but the 24 inch model is simple devine!  Glad to see the FW800 port making a appearance on the imac!

I Does the imac still use laptop memory? And if so, how do they get to 3gigs?

I know!! It certainly surprised me! I was NOT expecting this at all. I figured that new iMacs would be announced at the Special Event on the 12th.
