It’s the watch so nice, I bought it twice……..in this case, I just bought another, I couldn’t pass up the deal. Still my favorite watch.

Don't blame you, I was thinking of buying another Ceramic White S5 once so I could keep one as a collectors item. Only issue is using it enough to keep the battery ticking over etc.

Sweet, thank you!

It really is a thing of beauty, I really wish they'd bring back the ceramic. I kinda feel like a dork cause I know it's just an apple watch, but man.... it just feels so great to finally get the silly little thing you've wanted so bad for so long. I don't even care that it's 3 gens old lol.
Enjoy it! Because it sounds like you have waited a long time and you deserve to enjoy! welcome to the club. ♥️

For those of you that are getting replacements after getting the battery serviced! I had this happen to me and I could not figure out how to get passed this until I came up with a more clever google search.
1. Unpair watch
2. On iPhone turn off cellular data from toggle switch in settings
3. Put both Apple Watch and iPhone on chargers
4. Pair watch and start all over

Should work, worked for me! (After Apple sent a second replacement that did the same thing.) 😊

Have to admit, I miss my old white ceramic S5. I miss it every time I see my sister wearing it.

I had a weird experience getting my repair started. First it showed the $79 fee, but I got busy and couldn't set up the repair that day. Then when I went back to set it up the next day, it showed an $800 fee which I really don't want to pay. On a whim I tried again last night and it was back to $79, so I paid it and set up the repair. My shipping box will arrive tomorrow.

What I'm worried about now is them receiving my watch and changing my repair cost to $800 after 'evaluation'. What worries me even more is that I'd probably just pay it since I love the watch THAT much 😂 Put in on my apple card and at least get the 3% cashback lol. Anyone know if the repair price is locked in once they send the box? Ugh I'm so anxious.

What was the £79 repair for? Replacement battery?

I doubt it would be £800. I think that would be the cost of a replacement watch for whatever reason. Im sure I heard the same when I enquired @ Apple Store.

Yeah, battery. When I got it(used) it was at 82% then after updating, it jumped to 85%. It's not lasting very long so I'm hoping they don't give me any grief about it being over 80%

They took a whole hour to decide nothing was wrong with it. Really unhappy

You won’t have to pay the fee though surely? Other than postage?

Yep, I just spoke to them and they're going to refund me the fee minus shipping & handling so that's good.

Unfortunately, the rep I spoke to said they do not replace batteries above 80% anymore even if you're willing to pay so I guess they've really clamped down on that policy :/ He told me to just use it until it hits 80% then send it back in. Bummer, but I'll just wear it 24/7 till I get there lol.

There is a way of checking the number of charging cycles. 85% should be about 750, I think they need replacing around 1000 cycles. You could always speed this process up by leaving the torch and gps on to run it down so you have to charge twice a day.

I was thinking of putting it on a cellular line on my account and just using it as a standalone, that might do the trick too 👍

I was just thinking, it sure would be nice to have a series 5 white cermic. I have the series 2 that I haven’t turned on in years, but it would be nice to have one a bit more up to date. eBay seems rather pricy for used ones. Any suggestions of where to get one?

I got lucky at a french refurb selling site called backmarket. Not „cheap“ but reasonable, especially compared to the prices on eBay. They don’t have them in stock most of the time though

You could try sites like Poshmark and Mercari, I got both of mine from Mercari, and the second one was just too good of a deal. I saw a Series 5 on there a couple of months ago for less than $500 USD. I will say you have to be persistent, they don’t pop up often, and you gotta be careful it seems like there are a lot of “newly registered” users that try to list a sale for super cheap, but they obviously are fake sales. Good luck!

Awesome, I will check them out. Under $500 seems reasonable. People on eBay are trying to get $700 and $800 for them. That’s ridiculous for tech that is 4 years old.

How does the S5 Ceramic fare in hot weather and water? Planning to take it on holiday with me where it will be 30 degrees + and also in the pool as my daytime watch.

I don’t think you missed anything.
I had an iPad 12.9 replaced with 3 days left on Apple care. While loading at a few things after loading up the replacement the Apple care offer was there. Honestly thought it was a mistake but clicked on it anyway.
Got proof of monthly coverage. Much cheaper than buying new.

There wasn’t too much publicity around the changes.
When I went to get the ultra she specialist mentioned the program had changed.
My friend works at a store back east and confirmed the changes.
While setting up the ultra another specialist did the double take on my S5 ceramic and mentioned it may be eligible for an Apple care renewal. She walked me through the process.

You can only renew Apple care+ within 1 month from the date your AppleCare+ expires. The warranty becomes a monthly paid service only and does not expire until you cancel it. Once cancelled you cannot get AppleCare+ for it again.

@scotsmandc, @bruinsrme, or any one else that was fortunate enough to extend their applecare+ for the ceramic edition watch and turning it into a monthly charge, can you detail this? Have proof? I have an argument to make with an apple supervisor who is adamant that is not possible and need some help in corroborating the occurrence(s). Thanks.

Just wait till your regular AppleCare+ runs out and go back to Settings. It should allow you to sign up for monthly AppleCare+ then. No contact with an advisor required.

What @nattK said. Just let it expire. I can’t remember if the option pops on the last day or the next day when it has expired but don’t worry, you have a month to renew it month to month.

Thank you for the replies. Long story short, I do not have applecare+. My watch has a defect on the screen, and it should be covered under the limited warranty. Apple guy lied to me telling me that it is only valid for one year when apple's website states otherwise. (https://www.apple.com/support/products/watch/). A bold face lie! Basically telling me I am SOL. I am calling him out on that issue.

Issue two: He is adamant that extending applecare+ after it is due to expire is IMPOSSIBLE. Hence me reaching out to those users.

I am doing this to attack his credibility, and hopefully get my watch fixed.

Thanks again.
