iPhone Does anyone have the location arrow persistently on

I'm just filing another feedback report. It's Number 3 now and will be ignored as well.
I did 4th bug report for mail issue which they acknowledged after 24 hours and changed the status to - potential fix identified for future update and more than 10 reports. I became happy and was looking forward to a fix. After a day, when I went back to it, the status changed back to open and with no similar reports. Bummer.. I am sick of their games.
Can this only be done with a developer account or can ‘normal’ users also do this? If so, where can a report like this be submitted?

I have a hollow arrow on persistently on my iPad Air2 unless I turn off wifi networking in location services. I‘m running iOS 13.2.3. Explanation for what exactly wifi networking does is available but since my iPad is a wifi only version, it seems the only thing it provides my iPad is possible location accuracy improvements. I’m going to kill it and see if it effects where my iPad appears on the “find my” app..
For me I only see the solid arrow, I have never seen the hollow arrow on my iPhone 11.
I agree with you. Or for other users, it's like @papbot is praying it all the time: "it’s not a bug for me".
It has been aloways a solid arrow for me as well, not a hollow one.

They have been busy for a past week celebrating the introduction of location arrow technology on our phones.

Depends on how you look at it. After reading the article, I do think that it is a major bug. As the article indicates this issue goes against Apples own privacy policy. This mysterious location sharing is the only one we cannot turn off. So to me this is a big bug and privacy concern...!
By the way, in the comments of the article someone might have a solution:
“I ran into this issue when I was setting up my iPhone 11 from scratch a few weeks ago. I think it was triggered by my turning off location services by default in the first-time setup, and later turning individual ones on in airplane mode. When I reset the phone and set it up again with locations services on by default, and then manually turning nearly everything off, I haven’t yet seen an unexpected location ping.”

My question is: does this bug affect the battery? This is my biggest fear, as Apple may well fix this bug by hiding this arrow and continuing to access our location.

There might be a reason why we haven't seen another beta yet. Let's hope the new attenion will trigger something at Apple.

Let's see what will happen. I think it's a bad marketing strategy from Apple right now, talking about privacy in their advertisments and then still collecting data using location services.
I strongly disagree. If this is "performing as designed", why doesn't it happen in earlier iOS Versions? Maybe it does and we never saw it, because iOS 13 brings a bunch of new security features which maybe make things visible which has been unvisible until now? If it's "working as designed", why doesn't Apple inform about this new "design" in their support articles?
Why does it need an Blogpost by an security specialist and a pick-ups of other media outlets to inform about this new "design"? It seems that some media attention is needed so Apple is forced to inform clearly and transparent about this.
Right now, Apple has spread out several Marketing Campaigns regarding Privacy, but is this "expected behavior" really about privacy? If I have the option to disable location services, my device should disable them- and do not leave them on for some "fishy" tasks we don't know about (yet).
Again, I assume that Apple will react on this- in regards to the current privacy marketing campaign.
Maybe they won't change it, but I assume they will release a statement as more and more media is picking this issue up right now- an issue which goes back 11 pages in this forum yet.
For some time now, Apple has been placing more emphasis on security options on its smartphones. Under iOS 13, access rights can be selected in detail for individual apps and processes similar to Android. It is all the more astonishing that Apple exempts some processes from this possibility and does not inform users about it.
