The problem with compatibility lists like this one is, without the version number for the compatibility report, it's next to useless.

Still cannot print Canon MF210, Canon driver dated 9/23 and latest Developer build. This is really annoying that this is still not fixed I been needing to print something for about a week now. And the work around provided by Canon on their web site does not work! At least for me tried several times.

I had a similar experience, new driver and error with the Beta 2, reverted back to vanilla 10.12 and I could print, with the printer giving a red light error after each print job.
I don't think Canon tests their drivers in the betas, and I doubt they do a serious amount of testing with each model.
Someone needs to light a fire under those in charge of the updates, but I am not getting paid to do that ....

I have Safari 10 on my mac w/10.11 El Capitan and it can be sluggish for me also, so, probably unrelated to the OS.

It's notably slower than it was before I installed sierra. Also, autofill sometimes doesn't work now

[doublepost=1465866260][/doublepost]BusyCal crashes upon launch

Hi lyleberman, did you test BusyCal 2.6.9?

I contacted BusyMac, but they keep it in the dark:

"We are not testing BusyCal 2.6.9 on macOS Sierra, so if there are bugs, we won't be able to fix them. We would recommend that you look at upgrading to BusyCal 3, which is being tested and supported on Sierra"

I don't want to upgrade to v3. as I don't like the new UI.

WiFi Explorer 2.2 (latest version, dated 7th September 2016) works perfectly on macOS Sierra, all functionality for scanning Wireless networks and the various reports are available, and everything works fine.

Safari working better now that I turned FLASH back on and installed clicktoplugin. Really surprised it still works even though it's not updated anymore

Finally decided to upgrade to macOS 10.12 today on my mid-2010 15" MBP. So far so good, but like others have said, gfxCardStatus is causing the dGPU to stay on. Is there a fix for this? My laptop tends to run fairly hot with it on (around 140*F at idle).

Update: Someone forked the code for gfxCardStatus 2.3 and released a new version (currently 2.4.1i) which works correctly and doesn't trigger the dGPU. I found it in a GitHub issue in some of the comments.

Original Issue:
https://github.com/codykrieger/gfxCardStatus/issues/240

New Build:
https://github.com/steveschow/gfxCardStatus/releases

Update 2: There seems to be conflicting information in the original issue post. Some are saying that the fix from steveschow is a "dirty hack" even though it appears to work. Some say that the original code just needs to be recompiled with the newest version of XCode. So I'm not sure about this, but there's at least a lot of information there to diagnose the issue, so hopefully it does get fixed soon.

You can open this file with Seconday Click (Right Click or ⌃CTRL+Click) in Finder and choose open. GateKeeper is the culprit here not allowing you to open the installer.

Nope - i have tried doing this. The error is coming from the installer application. Have checked security settings and they are set to allow installs. It appears to be an issue with Sierra as i can run the same package on my old iMac (unable to upgrade luckily!)
I really need to get photoshop installed on macbook, may just go back to previous version.

DEVONthink Pro (Office)

— developer has just updated it to version 2.9 with new sync proces. I'm hopping that someone could report if DEVONthink runs/doesn't run on Sierra.
Thanks in advance.

How about a section on page 1 with Unknown/Untested software, in addition to the Compatible and Incompatible sections?

Im using DEVONthink pro office and upgraded sierra and Im syncing my dtbase with dropbox.
now I have lots of crashes while I'm importing datas from dropbox(not database).
or while I'm editing tags and working jobs related to TAGs..
its very frustrating!

InDesign is completely unusable now on the official Sierra release and the 10.12.1 beta. Crashes on launch every time. I've filed reports with Adobe and Apple.

I've tried everything. I've wiped my entire iMac and reinstalled Sierra from scratch then installed ONLY the CC desktop app and InDesign—nothing else whatsoever except what came with the OS, and I crash every time.

So frustrating.

So I'm sticking with El Capitan until Adobe releases a fix.

Filemaker Pro 12 works but has a display glitch in spreadsheet view. Partially visible "additional text" shows up in each record-field.
(Use this at a non-profit; I don't intend to buy an updated version yet.)

Has anyone tried XtraFinder under Sierra? I'm curious to see if this works. Thanks!
I've tried Xtrafinder out in os Sierra for some two weeks now, on a macmini and a macbook air. On both it does work for some time (with SIP disabled), but it crashes rather easily after some while. An update is definitely needed and will hopefully be provided soon! So I wouldn't advise using it in the current (0.25.9) version.

I can confirm that:
GIMP (default language is changed to Greek or cyrillic alphabet)

Does that mean that the language in Gimp can't be changed from the default?

Good news folks latest beta fixes printing thank goodness! What exactly Apple was doing with the printing system is beyond me what can we possibly improve with printing....

apple didn't sabotage your printer; they make changes in the code, and then, developers sometimes have to make changes in their code to work with apple's. this is how it is, how it's always been. they're not trying to improve printing at your expense...

logmein is not entirely compatible, despite the claim. The pointer turns into some oversized random cursor type (eg. a hand, or the 'insert' cursor, etc) and renders control of the remote machine either impossible, or very difficult at best.

When apple released Sierra (which comes with Safari 10), they also released Safari 10 for ElCapitan, which I installed (but haven't yet updated to Sierra), so, we are both using the same version of Safari, that's why I said it's not likely Sierra, but Safari that has issues.

Limited Compatibility

Aperture 3.6 (limitations listed in Sierra release notes)
Acrobat Pro 11.0.16 - Will not Print. Fixed in PB4.
CleanMyMac 3 will prompt to install a beta release that supports Sierra (3.5b2)
DxO OpticsPro Elite 10.5.4: image work area reduced to a ⅓ in size, hardly workable this way. Feature control switches are functional but covered by label text. DxO support just confirmed the issue and it won't update version 10 and one has to migrate to DxO 11. Support ticket #105791.
Epson Printers: Scanning ICA Driver (5.8.6): no more multi-page PDF scanning. Scans one page only per output doc. Every new scan must be refreshed with a preview scan.
Fusion 8.1.1 (see this post)
gfxCardStatus (displays GPU status, but will always force discrete GPU since gfxCardStatus "requires" the discrete GPU)
GIMP (Default language changed, now stops loading)
Hazel (some rules do not work)
iTunes 10.4.1 Warning at startup, but plays music fine. Have not tried store or signing in.
Line (Voice calling causes "App not responding" and skips audio)
Logic Pro 9.1.8 (can crash intermittently)
MacPorts
  • neither the package for El Capitan, nor the port binary within that package, is compatible with Sierra
  • it's necessary to build from source
Screenflow 5 and 6 (opens but nothing shows up when recording)
Simple Comic (will not install latest update but reads CBR files okay)
Sonos (Desktop) - Crashes if left open when computer goes to sleep, otherwise, functionality works as expected.
Splashtop Business (installs but will not always connect to remote computers, closing and restarting the app seems to fix this temporarily)
uTorrent (can crash in certain circumstances)
VMware Fusion 8 (Turn of 3D acceleration if you get an "Internal Error." **works in Public Beta 2)
