Hopefully the leather effect allows for some grip over the flat versions as some people have mentioned skins make the cover slippy. The leather style is the one I'm considering - but I'm also thinking of the Pull & Bear covers as I'm not sure if the glue from a skin will effect the AMK finish once removed?
I had a Decal Girl skin on my 11" Smart Keyboard Folio for almost two years before I sold it, and removed it right before shipping the item out to the buyer. It did absolutely no damage to the material on the Folio, which is the same exact material that's used on the Magic Keyboard. Granted, I did not carelessly rip it off--pull slowly and carefully and it will come off with no problem. And because of that, I put a Decal Girl skin on my Magic Keyboard with full confidence.

Hey all. Just an FYI that the SopiGuards are on amazon now. They aren't prime, but shipping is only a few dollars. Compared to the $15 I saw someone on here say they paid for international shipping. I have not bought one myself. Thinking about it but still hesitant on the idea of a decal on my keyboard. Although the black is pretty dang boring.

Has anyone who has put the Sopiguard skin on their magic keyboard also installed the inner portions of the skin? I have the outer skin installed and it looks great. Have been hesitant to skin the inner section (palm rests and above keyboard area...not interested in covering track pad) as I’m not sure how well it would hold up over time, stay adhered, and whether or not it would look tacky. Any feedback (and pics if possible) would be much appreciated!

This is the Forged Carbon from Sopiguard. I didn’t plan to install the inside skins, but after I saw how the color blended with the outside, I figured I’d give it a try. I also initially covered the trackpad, but removed it because I thought it lowered the sensitivity a bit.

Nice pic! That's the one I ordered because it's such a cool look. Your photo makes me lean toward installing the inner skins too.

Looks great. Thanks for the picture. In terms of the skins on the palm rests, have you had any issue with excessive wear, peeling around the edges or the skins not staying totally adhered? Thanks!

Looks freaking awesome!

No need for trackpad skin - that would be overkill.

Looks like decalgirl has skins specifically for the MK now (or at least a section on the website stating it is). Just ordered one so can reply back if it fits better or if its really a SK skin. Code stayhome also gets you 25% off.

What colour/pattern did you go for?

My Sopiguard is being delivered a day early, today instead of Monday. Guess what I'll be doing this afternoon? First time I've done a skin ... can't wait for that beautiful black forged carbon goodness.

My favorite word during COVID is "delivered".

eek, there's no Sopiguard installation instructions for the MK. Is it as straightforward as I hope: clean, apply and heat?

I am still waiting for mine :( . I emailed them and I was told it will take 2-3 weeks and COVID might delay it even further. ☹️

Here’s a video I found for your reference. Check it out.

Thanks for that video! As someone who tends to bungle packaging tape terribly, it went pretty well. Only had some bubbles in the largest piece. It may not be a perfect installation, but this forged carbon is exactly what I was hoping for. Now I can start enjoying this MK without babying it in a box. I actually think the grippiness is ok with this one.

Sorry to hear you've got a long wait, but I think you will pleased with the quality. Sounds like maybe a non-US destination. Mine was ordered and shipped Tuesday, and arrived today, Saturday.

Which one did you order?

I ordered the Matte Black one just to keep it more subtle and close to the original looks/feel. Lets see some pictures of your forged carbon :) . I thought about getting that one too but a little worried that it might look a little too much haha.

My forged carbon looks exactly like @911jason's pics above. I did the inside without doing the trackpad like his. I can see the Matte Black being a good choice too. The forged carbon is pretty subtle, and definitely black on black is a nice way to have it blend in. Very pleased with the quality of the material and hope it lasts a long time.

Here is a Red Wine Carbon skin on my MKB. I like the way it has changed the feel of holding the whole device (the Pro, MKB, and Pencil). Right now I don’t have any skin on the iPad itself, as I’ve never been able to apply the well enough, but I may try now, since this application went so well.

Looks great - did you use any heat during the application?

I've had a Sopiguard forged carbon skin on my MK for a few days, and wanted to mention how nice it looks and feels. This is my first skin ever for any device, and the experience has been very good, from ordering to post-installation. It makes me very confident to use the MK without giving any thought to marks.

I use a SOPI on my MK and put it on using light soapy water so that it slides on perfect, then work the slight excess moisture out. I also have a Fishskyns on the ipad so that when i take it out, I don’t need another case and it wont get scratched .
